Abstract:

The city of Bahia, as it was called the capital of Bahia, and still includes the naming of several books of history and literature, is a historical construction observed by several approaches, each under a multiple perspective. Its intense and arduous historical, cultural and political effects caused on the various physical and social, while its population was unfolding in the quaint and at the same time, plural socio-cultural organization. It is not difficult to imagine the experiences and vicissitudes faced by the city over nearly half a millennium of existence, which mainly relies on imaginary triumphs and from the foundation and formation of the urban people of Bahia. To understand what is being said, we must think about the new readings about this land, focusing mainly on images and rewritten the history of human existence stuck in centuries of representations of the imaginary and real phenomena that had built its foundations. To do so, we guide these lines with significant short and contemporary narratives that seek to relive the history of the past, the settings of this and future aspirations of the Salvador City, bringing into focus the authors of Bahia: Carlos Ribeiro, with the book Contos de Sexta-feira e duas ou três crônicas (2010) and João Filho with the book Ao longo da linha amarela (2009). Based on this principle, this paper aims to discuss the images of the city of Bahia in the historiography, through the memories and found by the first author of the contemporary metropolis, movement focused by the second. From these basic features of the study, we revisit the similarities and differences in point of view of each author on the space-time which include, in order to demonstrate the multifaceted images of urban scenes of Salvador, unfolding, therefore, the analytical approach each writer. In order to show how Salvador entered the historical context of the XX and XXI centuries, we intend to examine the chest transformations of urban space, as well as human experiments involving the reality of Salvador. In an attempt to build other knowledge that decrypt, make an assessment of the stories of both books, trying to tie the literary imagination to the social scene, subject to other interpretations and reinterpretations that construct/deconstruct the mysteries of the urban maze. Meanwhile, the crowd will form and move to the heart of the city, in which Carlos Ribeiro and João Filho rebuild itself characters and scenarios that leverage the reality of Soteropolis.
